RAM / LCC Analysis (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability / Life Cycle Cost)

The next edition of EN 50126, a two-part standard, was published in 2017. Reliability, availability, and ease of maintenance design have grown in importance in the industrial sector, particularly in the railway sector, in recent years. The resulting analyses directly translate into maintenance documents mentioned in EU directives, such as Directive (EU) 2016/797 of the European Parliament and of the Council of May 11, 2016, on the interoperability of the rail system in the European Union, and have a significant influence on maintenance planning. FMECA, reliability analysis, corrective maintenance (repair planning based on reliability analysis), preventive maintenance analysis (revision planning), and reliability analysis are all included in the scope of the analysis. Furthermore, since 2006, RAM and LCC analysis have been important parts of the requirements found in the IRIS standard for the railway quality management system.
