IATF 16949:2016
IATF 16949:2016 is a document that combines a strong customer orientation, references some previously consolidated ISO/TS 16949:2009 and ISO 9001:2015 basic standards, as well as special requirements of customers from the automotive industry.
ISO/TS 16949 was originally developed in 1999 by the International Working Group on Automotive (IATF) to harmonize the world's various supply chain assessment and certification systems for the automotive sector. Subsequent releases of the standard included improvements / updates to technology in the automotive sector and subsequent releases of the base standard ISO 9001.
A uniform set of procedures and techniques for unified product and process development were introduced for the global automobile industry by ISO/TS 16949, along with accompanying technical publications created by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and national automotive industry associations.
Feedback from certification bodies, auditors, suppliers, and OEM manufacturers was sought in order to develop IATF 16949:2016 (first edition), which nullifies and replaces ISO/TS 16949:2009, as part of the preparations for the migration from ISO/TS 16949:2009 (third edition) to the Automotive QMS standard, IATF 16949.
